During the last and current lockdown the 2019/20 Committee have all agreed to remain in post to assist in keeping the Club running and communicate regularly on a Committee group chat that also includes Barry. They held one meeting in the Club when it was permitted but subsequent meetings have been online using Zoom.
At the most recent of these held on 12th January the Treasurer ran through the various grants and other assistance to which the Club is entitled, that help its various financial obligations. Due to the continued support of the membership and Treasurer’s and Committee’s prudence over the past few years the Club’s bank balance is healthy and has been able to withstand the disruption of the last ten months.
The Committee discussed future membership fees and the membership waiting list but decided that no meaningful decisions can be made until the government announce when and how licenced premises can resume trading. There is an opinion out there that May could well be the earliest this might happen. The membership cards for those new members who joined in October are ready for collection once the Club re-opens.
As the 2020 AGM could not be held the Committee have reluctantly agreed that this will have to be cancelled but are investigating various ways a 2021 AGM could be held once the Club re-opens and have unanimously agreed to remain in post until that time.
The fabric of the club remains in good order with any necessary repairs and maintenance taking place. You may recall from previous Minutes over the last couple of years that the twin gas boilers have become increasingly troublesome and were scheduled for replacement last year; because these problems persist the Committee have decided to replace them before the club re-opens.
Due to the lockdown the Christmas Draw had to be suspended and the Committee have therefore agreed to resume it under a different title once the Club reopens.
The Committee, staff and Officers would like to thank you again for your patience and understanding during this very difficult time and very much look forward to welcoming you back.
