A message from Graham - September 2016

For all you insomniacs out there - this is my latest blog.  I know it has been well received as bedtime reading and helps many of you fall asleep but I am going to persevere.

PAST EVENTS - Over the last month we have enjoyed a few good events, both at the club and on the green.  The charity cricket day was another success (we came second!) and concluded in the club with a cricket tea, prize giving and raffle.  Overall the day raised around £1600 for the two charities.  The golf day last Friday went well, the winner was Jim Whiteside.  The group enjoyed a good evening at the club where they had a meal and congratulated the prize winners.   Many members enjoyed using the club whilst attending both the vintage car rally and the music event held on the green at the end of July and August respectively.

FORTHCOMING EVENINGS 

Saturday 17^th we welcome SKATACUS,  a band that promise music and dancing to music of the ‘two-tone’ variety (no I have no idea what that is but I do recognise the bands Madness and Bad Manners who are amongst the bands’ music they cover.)   Food on Saturday will cease at 7pm as we expect to be too busy after this to safely deliver food. 

HOLIDAYS – Deana and I will be leaving on our holidays on Sunday 18^th – for the period of our absence the kitchen will be closed (that’s from 4pm on the 18^th until 12noon on the 29^th ).   The bar will be open as usual and will be manned by the team – Norman, Martin, Ami and Davinia. 

SNOOKER – the new season starts on the 22^nd September, once again we have entered two teams and we wish them both well.  Please note that the tables will be in use on Thursday evenings for league matches and a schedule will be posted on the notice board if you want to check actual dates. 

Well I think that sums up the current position and covers what I wanted to let you know – got to go as I’ve got packing to do…..
